Activities

The range of activities carried out by EMES, its members and partners can be divided into:

  • RESEARCH – EMES conducts multidisciplinary studies to understand the diversity of experiences at national levels, and the way third sector enterprises and organisations are embedded in their respective societies.
  • EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS – EMES directly and indirectly supports efforts to teach this field in European universities, be it through the development of university programs, hosting of interns or participation in European initiatives.
  • DISSEMINATION – As an organizer of or participant in international and national conferences, seminars and meetings, EMES aims to make the results of its research projects and publications widely known in the academic world and in various economic, social and political arenas as a way of enriching the knowledge accumulated and contributing to the field. For instance, EMES organised with the ISTR (International Society for Third Sector Research) the "First European ISTR-EMES conference: Concepts of the Third Sector" in spring 2005.

The network develops an ongoing dialogue with researchers working in similar areas in North America and other regions, and with European practitioners in the field and their national and European Union representatives.
