CSE - Centre for Social Entrepreneurship RUCThe Centre for Social Entrepreneurship (Center for Socialt Entreprenørskab) was founded in 2007 and is based in the Department of Psychology and Lifelong Learning at Roskilde University Centre just outside Copenhagen.
The Centre carries out education and research activities in the area of social entrepreneurship, social enterprise, welfare studies and civil society. It has pioneered Europe's first Masters in Social Entrepreneurship with 25 mature students from the public and third sector. Its international team of academics supports the 2 year part-time programme of studies. CSE conducts contract research, most recently on welfare to work policies in Denmark, and is establishing an extensive research programme for doctoral students.
The Centre is directed by Linda Lundgaard Andersen, an expert in social learning, and builds on the work of Lars Hulgård, a founding member of EMES. Lars established the CINEFOGO-Network of Excellence, an international cross-disciplinary network for Governance studies, funded by the EU, Sixth Framework Programme. He participated in the EMES, PERSE projects, contributed to the books related to these projects, and has recently (2007) completed a book (in Danish) on social entrepreneurship. The Centre has links with the Co-operatives Research Unit (EMES member), and the University of East London.
